Jean-Guy began his career as a carpenter before becoming a building contractor. He was promoted to building site superintendent at the age of 19. At age 26, he took part in Expo 67 by constructing 450 cottages, 150 residences, and 650 temporary rooms. He was one of the earliest constructors of Blainville. He built some 3,000 cottages and 1,500 houses in the Thérèse-de-Blainville RCM.
